LeBrun Library
On January 7, 2009, the Montclair Art Museum announced that it had transferred the majority of its LeBrun Library to the Harry A. Sprague Library at Montclair State University (MSU), where these important research holdings will be far more widely available to scholars and the general public.
The holdings transferred include over 6,000 books and catalogues on American and Native American art, representing the full period of these artistic cultures. Also included are works of decorative arts, design, and architecture of American, European, and other world cultures.
At Sprague, as the library of a public institution, the collection will be open to everyone during library hours for assistance and consultation, and registered borrowers will be able to check books out. A website will be developed and available on Sprague Library’s home page describing the collection.
MSU extends library privileges to registered borrowers residing in municipalities within Essex and Passaic Counties. Additionally, members of the Museum who reside outside those municipalities may apply for Community Borrower cards.
